A Brand New Craft Beer Line Up at The Corner House

Some brand new names in our craft beer line up

whatsapp-image-2018-01-26-at-09-53-10Our relationships with some of the best real ale and craft beer breweries in the country are an element of The Corner House that we’re particularly proud of. This weekend, we introduced new beers to our already outstanding lineup, and it’s safe to say they went down a storm.

One of the breweries supplying several of these tasty new brews is Adnams. Most famous for brewing beer in the seaside Suffolk town of Southwold since 1872, Adnams have won countless awards not only for their beer, but their gin and vodka too. They work with local farmers and producers, as well as partnering with overseas beer brands such as Bitburger and Benediktiner, to bring their delicious brews to the UK.

Jack Brand Mosaic Pale Ale is just one of the ones we’ve got on our new list – a self confessed ‘fruity one-hop wonder’, we’ve got it on keg and it goes perfectly with lightly spiced dishes, as well as scallops! It’s made with mosaic hops, and features mango, peach, lemon and pine flavours.

On cask is Ghost Ship, gold medal winner at The Indie Beer Can Awards 2014, no less. Described by Adnams as ‘hauntingly good’, it’s brewed with a selection of malts – Pale Ale, Rye and Cara, and managed to be bitter and citrusy at the same time.

Whether you’re a seasoned craft beer fan, or looking to dip your toe into the hoppy water (not literally – shoes on in the bar please, guys), we’ve got a line up to suit any taste.

Restaurant gift vouchers in Worthing – now you can give the Christmas gift of a meal out at either of our fantastic Worthing eateries

ew_14475-copyGifts are tricky things; you don’t want to give someone something that they won’t like, will never use, or will clutter them up for years to come. In a world full of things, often the best gift is an excuse to get together with ones you love the most, and enjoy good food, good drinks, and good company. This is the inspiration behind our gift vouchers, allowing you to give the gift of a meal out at either of our fantastic Worthing eateries; perfect for Christmas.

The vouchers can be purchased in multiples of 10, and the really fantastic thing about them is that they can be used at either The Beach House, or just up the road at The Corner House. Perhaps your loved one is a fan of a classic pub garden (heated, and with blankets in this cold season), craft beer, and a delicious Sunday roast? The Corner House is the place for them. Or maybe they prefer a decent burger, a view across the beach, and more local ale than they can shake a stick at? Then they’ll love the excuse to pop to The Beach House. They get to decide, and it means they can look forward to an outing after the festive season!

Our restaurant gift vouchers in Worthing are available to purchase online here, and from both The Corner House and The Beach House – just ask any of our staff!

The Corner House is Proud to Sponsor Tide of Light 2017!

The Corner House is a headline sponsor of 2017’s Tide of Light

We’re big supporters of anything that brings our town alive, and there’s no better example of this than Tide of Light. Taking place on 5th November, this fun, free firework festival and lantern parade happens right on our doorstep, with lantern making, the parade itself, a fun fair, food market, live entertainment, and of course, and spectacular firework display to top the evening off. It’s grown in popularity over the last few years, with a 35,000 people attending last year, making it one of the most exciting events in Worthing’s calendar.

Tide of Light relies on the generosity of local businesses, which is why we’re so proud to be a headline sponsor. We share this title with our sister bar, The Beach House, and it is our absolute pleasure to support such a well loved local event. On the night itself, The Corner House will of course be throwing it’s doors open, welcoming festival-goers of all ages, whether it’s for a hearty meal to set you up for the evening, a glass of fine wine, or a pint of local ale (although those last two options can be swapped for a tasty soft drink so firework fans under 18!) We love meeting so many Worthing people on the night, and, of course, we’re just a stones throw from the action.

For more information on what’s happening on the night, visit tideoflight.co.uk, and make sure you pop the date in your diary; it’s going to be a fantastic night!

#StrawsSuck – Say Hello to Paper Straws at The Corner House

The Corner House is proud to be one of the first places to eat in Worthing to ditch plastic straws

When you’re sipping on that well earned gin and tonic at the end of week at The Corner House, it probably hasn’t occurred to you that there’s a large number of people around you doing the same thing – and they’ve all got straws in their drinks. This is happening every day of the week, which means thousands and thousands of plastic straws are getting used – and the environmental impact adds up. Well, no longer, as far as we’re concerned – we’ve banished plastic straws in favour of a much more eco-friendly alternative!

Like other small pieces of plastic waste, straws can make their way into our rivers and oceans easily, causing havoc for marine life. A Gaurdian article recently reported that “Most plastic packaging items are used only once before being discarded, and globally only 14% of plastic packaging is collected for recycling. The remainder gets incinerated, landfilled or worse, with more than 30% leaking out into the environment. If nothing changes, there could be more plastic than fish in the ocean by 2050.” This is pretty scary, and we wanted to do our bit to reduce our use of single-use plastic items, which naturally led us to the replacement of our straws.

These new paper alternatives can go straight into the recycling, just as paper does in an office. They’re not boring bog standards ones either – they pretty cool, if we do say so ourselves? Both The Corner House and its sister bar The Beach House will be using these straws instead of plastic ones. We’re very pleased with them – come and give them a try! We’ve got a large gin selection, if you needed an excuse…

Some Sparkly New Additions to The Corner House Website

We’re excited to reveal brand new photos, a video and gift vouchers!

ew_15210-copyIt’s been a little while since we saw the finishing touches on our website, so its been a lot of fun to give everything a bit of a refresh with some brand new photos, as well as an impressive new video! With the help of our marketing friends at Hit Refresh, and talented local photographer Ed Watts, we’ve got a selection of media that really shows off The Corner House at it’s best. You can now also buy gift vouchers for The Corner House and our sister bar, The Beach House – find out more here.

The photos were taken across two shoots, with the first focusing on the food. We wanted some of our most popular dishes to show off their best side, including fish and chips, pie, and of course, our famous roasts. Our sharing platters, pork pie, kids menu options, and celeriac strudel also got a look in, as well as some trendy interior shots, and plenty of attention paid to our extensive selection of drinks.

The second shoot focused more on our beautiful garden, which on the night we chose, like any sunny summers evening, was full of happy people enjoying themselves. We’re so pleased to have captured a slice of life at The Corner House, and have it immortalised not only in images, but in an exciting video too.

Hit Refresh’s videographer Gary was on hand on both shoots too, which has resulted in a very exciting video that we think sums up The Corner House perfectly

This media has definitely enhanced our website, and anyone who has ‘liked’ The Corner House on Facebook should expect to see the gorgeous pictures popping up on our posts from now on!

Desserts at The Corner House

Our chef has desserts on the brain at our gastropub in Sussex

whatsapp-image-2017-07-23-at-14-51-09-1Fruit, cold dishes, and sweet treats are definitely a common craving amongst food fans when the summer months arrive. It’s with this in mind, our chef has been busy in the kitchen crafting some absolutely glorious desserts at our gastropub in Sussex – and they’re on as specials for the foreseeable future.

The first is a Corner House twist on the classic summer pudding – quintessentially British, and just what you need after a filling main course. Juicy summer berries surrounded by soft, fluffy sponge and served with a delicious fruit sauce. The second is a mango semifreddo, which is a semi frozen dessert that falls halfway between a mousse and an ice cream. The mango gives it the perfect summer flavour, and it’s served with a medley of fresh fruit.

Our gastropub in Sussex is known for delicious specials, and these desserts are no different. Call us to book a table on 01903 216463, and see what triumphs our chef has created for our blackboard!
