2015 at The Corner House

The year is drawing to a close – and what an 2015 at The Corner House it’s been

As 2015 comes to an end, we’re taking the time to look back on the year that The Corner House was born. We acquired this historical building in the summer, with plans to turn it into a successful traditional pub, and we’re pleased to say that’s exactly what we’ve done. Working on a building so steeped in Worthing history was an honour, and we like to think we’ve done it proud.

2015 at The Corner House

We can’t stress enough how overwhelmed we are with the positive reaction we have received from Worthing – we’re still saying ‘wow’ to this day! The support from day one spurred us on to opening night, and from there it’s been a whirlwind of packed Saturday nights and many hearty Sunday roasts! We’ve already hosted our first DJ night since our doors opened in October, and our Christmas Carol’s Around the Piano recently was a roaring success. Worthing has made us tremendously proud.

2015 at The Corner House

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our fantastic suppliers who make the yummy food and drink at The Corner House possible, and each and every customer who has visited and supported us in 2015. We’re looking forward to our first full year at The Corner House, and we really hope to see lots of you there!

Corner House Festive Menu

Christmas is approaching at speed, and as a pub that prides itself on its roast dinners, we knew our christmas menu had to be something special. As its The Corner House’s first christmas, we hope that this menu sets the standard for many more to come. Its perfect for work do’s, or just a christmas catch up with family and friends.

We’ve kept things traditional, but with a few of our own twists along the way. A festive menu wouldn’t be right without a proper christmas dinner, and so we’re anticipating that our turkey roast with all the trimmings will be a popular choice.

Alternatives include pan fried sea bass and a vegetarian nut roast, and we hope that these will really showcase our chef’s talents.

Our festive menu is only available by pre-booking, so make sure you plan ahead to avoid disappointment!

Corner House Official Launch Party

To celebrate the Corner House’s opening, we held an official launch party at this new pub in Worthing

The launch party gave us an opportunity to meet with some of the suppliers that helped make the our opening of our new pub in Worthing a success, and this included the team from Bedlam Brewery. Management and brewers alike made it to The Corner House to celebrate with us, and see exactly where their brand new Pilsner lager is being served.  It was great to spend time chatting with the team, and finding out even more about how Bedlam Brewery works.

Music for the evening was provided by Tim Keegan, a talented folk musician well known in the Worthing area. Tim runs The Beach House Music Club every Thursday over at our sister bar, and he never fails to get everyone singing along.

The cosy surroundings really leant themselves to an evening spent with both new and familiar faces, and we look forward to welcoming them to The Corner House again soon.

Bedlam Brewery

When The Corner House opened, we were excited to announce we would be offering Bedlam Brewery’s brand new Pilsner lager exclusively in Worthing.

Bedlam Brewery sits at the foot of the South Downs, near Brighton in Sussex, and was founded in 2012 by Nick Cooper and James O’Connor, who are still shareholders. Now under the direction of Dominic Worrall, Bedlam have made a solid name for themselves in the craft beer market, and have their sights set on expansion. Their beers are already sold in over 80 pubs across Sussex, and they continue win acclaim amongst pub goers across the county and beyond.

Bedlam’s ethos is very much geared to looking after the environment, and they pride themselves on embracing their rural location. Their energy is generated via solar panels, they grow their own hops on-site, and care is taken to distribute all spent grain for free to local farmers as cattle feed. They’re a brewery who truly care for their surroundings.

Bedlam have already enjoyed success with Benchmark, IPA, and Porter, and their new Pilsner lager is no different. Created by German brewer Fabio Israel, Pilsner is an original recipe brewed to 4.2% using strong hops, which blend to create a refreshing finish. The release of Bedlam’s Pilsner lager comes at an exciting time for them and for us, and we’re so excited to be offering it exclusively at The Corner House.

The Corner House Opens!

After many plans and renovations, we’re thrilled to say that The Corner House is now open.

Our journey began in August, when we took over a building steeped in pub history in the heart of Worthing, formally known as The Stage. Following on from the success of our other venture, The Beach House, we wanted to create a family friendly pub with local ales and home cooked food at its heart. A post on The Beach House Facebook page decided the perfect name, ‘The Corner House’, before a thorough refurbishment took place.

The Corner House Opens

We wanted to put our own stamp on the building, and so we painted the exterior, replaced the floor, completely transformed the garden into an outdoor eating area, and added brand new bi-fold doors, amongst other much needed improvements for when the Corner House opens.

By October 14th, we were ready to open our doors, and the response we had was staggering. By this stage, we already had over 1000 followers on Facebook, and on opening night it felt like all of them came to say hello! The Corner House was packed, and the positive feedback was overwhelming. Over the following days, we introduced our menu, and the great reviews started coming in on Facebook. It couldn’t have gone better.

We’re so happy that The Corner House is now up and running, and we look forward to serving Worthing for years to come.
