With the Summer a distant memory and the wet and windy weather making its presence felt, we are proud to offer such a cosy pub in Worthing, with warm and friendly surroundings and delicious comfort food on offer.
Alongside our regular menu our dedicated chefs are always designing new and interesting dishes for our specials board. Often these are warming, hearty dishes to fill the tummy and your heart! We have, in recent weeks, delighted in special dishes such as pan fried wild duck with fondant potatoes, crispy fried chicken with sweet potato fries, sticky shredded beef, roasted partridge, beef bourguignon and calves liver amongst many others.
It has also been time to light our log burner to ramp up the cosy factor, making our wonderful pub such a great time to spend the lengthening autumn evenings. But you don’t have to be couped up inside! Our enclosed garden pods have heat and light (and charging points) so you can even feel cosy outdoors.
Hot on the heels of our staff trip to Bitburger in Germany, our next trip was a little closer to home in Sussex, but no less fascinating.
Matt took a group of team members from the Beach House, Corner House and Tap House into the heart of the South Downs to visit the vineyard and winery of Ridgeview, supplier of our wonderful Ridgeview Bloomsbury English fizz.
The team were able to see the vineyards, which started life back in 1995, in all their glory. Planted in the foothills of the South Downs, the soil is a perfect combination of chalk and clay to sustain the classic grape varieties grown there including Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The vines benefit from high levels of natural acidity which is exactly what is needed to produce Ridgeview’s incredible sparkling wine.
The winery was also incredible to see, a mix of traditional methods with modern, specialist machinery to enhance the process of wine-making without taking over. The team at Ridgeview still handpick their grapes and use very gentle pressing techniques to ensure the highest standards of wine production. Their bespoke, underground wine cellar is unique in England and also means that the wine produced can be stored perfectly.
All of this hard work and effort is clear when tasting Ridgeview’s wines and its not difficult to understand why it is frequently served not only in No 10 Downing Street but also Buckingham Palace. What better way to show off England’s finest produce. 20 years after the first vines were planted, Ridgeview now produce more than a quarter of a million bottles which are sold across the World and of course, most importantly, supplied to us in Worthing and Shoreham!
Have you tried Ridgeview’s Bloomsbury English Fizz yet? Available at all our establishments by the bottle or by the glass.
Some of our key team from the Beach House, Corner House and Tap House were recently invited to take a tour of the Bitburger Brewery in Germany!
5 of our lucky team took the 400 mile trip to Bitburg, a small town in the South West of Germany not far from the border of Luxembourg. Steeped in tradition, the Bitburger brewery was founded back in 1817, by Johann Peter Wallenborn. By 1883 they were brewing the first of their Pilsner style beers and soon exporting to their nearest neighbour, Luxembourg. The brewery grew in strength until it was destroyed in 1944 towards the end of the war. But Bitburg was made of strong stuff and by 1949 they were back to full production. Many milestones came and went, but it was in 1964 when their recognisable goblet was first designed and introduced.
By the end of the 80s and early 90s Bitburger had developed into the one of the most important beer brands in Germany, available in more than 30 countries. Celebrating its 200’th birthday in 2017 it is still one of the most important German breweries still in private ownership and remains to this day the most poured draft beer in German bars.
Our team had a wonderful glimpse into the Bitburger Brewery, with a very warm welcome from the dedicated and passionate brewers who gave great insights into the process of making their wonderful premium Pils.
We’ve already had some sunshine this Spring and it’s been wonderful to see the greenery and flowers start to cheer everyone up and watch our garden being the centre of attention with people having a great time, whether it be a drink with friends or a family meal.
During the winter our garden goes undercover with a cosy awning and the heated wooden pods, but its fantastic to open it all up during the summer, when the pods become a haven for shade lovers and the rest of the garden sees sun-seekers enjoying the warmth on their backs.
“Me and my friends visited on Friday night, the pub was extremely busy, but what a fantastic atmosphere! Great team, everyone smiling and joking. Wonderful beer garden! Well managed pub! We will be back :)” Salt_Skin via Trip Advisor
I know, its easy for us to say, but we think it could be the best pub garden in Worthing… what do you think? Don’t forget to leave us a review on Facebook, Google or Trip Advisor.

We did it! The Corner House sister bar – The Tap House in Shoreham is now OPEN!
The Tap House will be individual in its approach and will not mirror either of its sister establishments, except for the same great service and dedication to the quality and variety of its beers, wines and spirits and local produce. Specialising in burgers and mussels, the Tap House will also open earlier at the weekend to offer tasty brunch dishes. Situated in the heart of Shoreham on East Street, with on-street seating, it will be the perfect place to watch the world go by.
Just as at The Corner House and Beach House, we are proud to offer NHS workers a 20% discount Tuesday – Thursday and we will also continue our successful promotions –
Burger Tuesdays, where a Tap House Burger and a pint/glass of wine is available for just £10.95
Charity Quiz Night, taking place on the first and third Wednesdays of each month
Street of the Week, 15% discount to residents of our randomly selected street from Tuesday – Friday (a new street is announced on Social Media each Monday)
Even if you are a Worthing resident, why not pop along to Shoreham to support the Corner House Sister bar and take a look around the shops and places of interest this wonderful town has to offer.
